Neri: ‘Spooktacular Halloween’

Nelia G. Neri

HALLOWEEN at Cebu Country Club gets more exciting each year. For the longest time now, the party highlight has always been the Costume Parade where the “Most Halloween-Inspired” and “Most Original” costumed participants are chosen and given prizes in three categories: Individual, Couple and Group. Innovative and interesting interpretations of all kinds of scary characters take centerstage, all in the spirit of fun. Quite eerie, though!

Some quarters may consider the Halloween tradition as irrelevant to the celebration of All Saints’ Day but personally, I think it is just another costume party—neither relevant nor irrelevant. True, it is set on the eve of the day for the saints but it doesn’t mean irreverence or disrespect.

A new addition to the Country Club Halloween fun is the selection and awarding of Best Dressed (costumed) attendees who don’t join the Costume Parade but are nevertheless in costumes. Take a look at this year’s winners.
