Newly formed Arkiteks United Women’s team shine in Justice Lee Cup

NEWLY assembled Arkiteks United Women’s squad put on an impressive performance in its debut tournament at the 1st Justice German G. Lee Memorial Football Tournament last weekend at the Dynamic Herb-Borromeo Sports Complex in Talisay City.

“This is the maiden tournament of our women’s team,” team manager Jhojo Partosa told SunStar Cebu. “Half of the team are architects, while the rest are related to design courses like interior designers, ads and arts.”

Arkiteks United, backed by Buildrite and Fenestram, is currently competing in the Women’s BPO division and had a win and draw last weekend.

Arkiteks United defeated Ladies United, 1-0, compliments of Beatrice Lim’s lone goal in the 16th minute. The other match ended with a 1-1 draw with Mex United with Kiara Amarga scoring Arkiteks United’s only goal in the match.

“It was a superb first two games. I didn’t expect it,” said Partosa. “With the help of coach Dino and goalkeeping coach Larry Chew.”

The Arkiteks United Women’s team is mentored by Dino Musni along with Singaporean goalkeeping coach Larry Chew and team manager Partosa.

The squad is composed of Amarga, Lim, Cybill Solamo, Angel Robles, Frances Enriquez, Ayana Gaitera, Candice dela Torre, Sophia Cuenca, Maia Cinco, Yvonne Silva, Lucelle Bureros, Tracy Cirunay, Kaye Sarmiento and Erika Escudero.

Arkiteks United is set to face JPMC FC this weekend. The four squads will take on each other in the semifinals after their last remaining ranking match.

Though just new as a team, Partosa is optimistic about the squad’s chances of winning it all.

“I believe we have a chance,” he said. (EKA)
