NHCP marker honoring President Roxas unveiled

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Philippines (PIA) - The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) unveiled a historical marker honoring President Manuel Acuña Roxas in commemoration of his 63rd death anniversary last Friday, April 15. The unveiling of the historical marker highlighted the opening of Capiztahan 2011, a three-day celebration of Capiz's 110th Charter Anniversary which ended yesterday.

NHCP Executive Director Ludovico Badoy and Roxas City Mayor Angel Alan Celino led the unveiling ceremony with Capiz Governor Victor A. Tanco; Mrs. Judy Araneta Roxas - widow of President Roxas' son, the late Senator Gerardo Roxas; the President's grandsons, Atty. Manuel R. Roxas and Liberal Party President Manuel A. Roxas II, among those representing immediate members of President Roxas' family; and Mrs. Lina Laigo president of the President Manuel A. Roxas Foundation present.

During the official transfer of the historical marker to the Roxas City government Badoy said such marker in honor of President Roxas shall serve as an inspiration to all Filipinos striving to achieve what is best for the country.

As a sign of commitment and acceptance of the obligation in preserving the national landmark, Celino put his signature on the Certificate of Transfer of the historical marker with NHCP Research, Publications and Heraldry Division Officer-In-Charge Carminda R. Arevalo, Laigo and the honoree's grandson, Manuel R. Roxas as witnesses.
