Ninjas pull off twinkill; soar to second place

THE Ninjas surged up to second place at the end of the first round of the Casa Mira Basketball League Season 2 after back-to-back wins over the weekend at the Casa Mira Linao basketball court in Minglanilla.

The Ninjas won two close games against the Assassins, 82-80, on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020. The team then beat the Pirates, 113-108 the next day.

It was a total team effort by the Ninjas in both games as five players were in double figures in each game.

Emilio Aniñon lead the Ninjas against the Assassins with 19 points. Daxie Ynot had 17, Dewey Ynot added 14, Ian Castrodes chipped in 13 and Jay Ellacer scored 11.

Gil Divinagracia led the Assassins with 24.

Meanwhile, Aniñon had a better performance the next day against the Pirates and exploded for 30 markers to lead the Ninjas. Ellacer added 18, Dewey scored 17, Sean Gabinete had 15 and Castrodes contributed 13.

Brian Mabulay had 30 points but it wasn’t enough to beat the red-hot Ninjas.

The Ninjas sit at second place with 4-2 right behind Saging Warriors with a 5-1 slate.

The Assassins are third place also with a 4-2 record. The Generals and the Reapers are fourth and fifth with identical 3-3 slates, while the Pirates are 2-4 at sixth place. The Hunters are eliminated from the tournament with 0-4 record. (EKA)
