THE NLEX Road Warriors snapped their three-game losing streak with an emphatic 98-68 win over the struggling Blackwater Bossing in the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Friday afternoon, July 15, 2022.

The Road Warriors pounced on the Bossing early, scoring the game’s first 11 points to set the tone for the lopsided match. When the dust settled after the first quarter, NLEX had zoomed in front, 31-2.

Blackwater’s two-point output tied a record for the lowest number of points scored in a quarter. The notorious feat has been done just three times prior to Friday, and the last time it happened was 21 years ago when Mobiline scored just two in the opening canto against Sta. Lucia.

The Bossing have big man Yousef Taha to thank as he scored Blackwater’s only points during that forgettable stretch.

Overall, Blackwater missed 16 of their 17 attempts from the field and their two free-throws in the first.

The win allowed NLEX to even their record up at 5-5.

Don Trollano paced NLEX with 16 points, while Calvin Oftana added 15 markers and eight rebounds. Veteran forward JR Quiñahan had 12 points.

Meanwhile, nobody scored in double-figures for Blackwater, with Taha being the high-point-man with nine. The Bossing have now lost three in a row to fall to 5-4.
