NO PERSONS were reported injured nor there were houses damaged following the waterspout that was spotted over the seawaters off Lapu-Lapu City Friday, September 9, 2022.

Nagiel Bañacia, head of the Lapu-Lapu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said the waterspout occurred between the seawaters off the city and Liloan town around 1:30 p.m.

“Walay na angol o naguba nga balay sa buhawi nga nitumaw tunga sa lawod sa Lapu-Lapu ug Liloan ganinang mga 1:30 sa hapon,” said Bañacia in his social media post.

The CDRRMO head, however, told SunStar Cebu that there were some areas in the city that were flooded amid the downpour on Friday.

But Bañacia clarified that floods in the city usually subside immediately unlike from other areas in Cebu.

“Not life threatening ang lunop sa Opon unlike sa Cebu. We are an island, no mountains ang rivers in the city,” he said. (MKG)
