No More Cry: Facebook group Order Hero helps delivery guys sell canceled food orders

It’s not easy being a delivery guy, especially when you have to pay for food that’s been canceled by a customer (you know who you are!). But a Facebook group is out to change this despicable practice and they’re getting a lot of love from both riders and hungry netizens.

It’s been a godsend because many food delivery companies require its riders to pay for a customer’s order first. When the order is canceled (which happens often), the delivery dudes are left in a lurch. The group was founded late last month by a 28-year-old marketing consultant named MeAnn Ortiz.

“The group started with a question from my sister, ‘How do we know which orders have been canceled? We should be able to buy them, but only the ones which we can eat,'” Ortiz told Coconuts Manila in an interview on Facebook Messenger.

“So we thought, maybe we’re not the only ones who are willing to buy canceled orders from these riders. Perhaps there are a lot more [who want to do the same]. So we tried creating a group for riders and for people who are willing to help,” she added.

Ortiz created the Facebook group then publicized it by informing several rider groups of its existence on the same social media platform.

“We contacted the admins of rider groups and they endorsed us. And we also shared it with friends and family who liked the concept, then they shared it with other people, too. When this happened, more orders were ‘saved.’ Even the riders also invited their friends to join,” she said.

Ortiz is happy with the feedback that she’s received from delivery guys, who said that the group has been helpful.

“We receive so much appreciation from riders. It’s so overwhelming. They said it’s been a great help for them,” she said.

Congrats MeAnn, and keep doing great things!
