No public funds used during vacation, Rama clarifies

CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama clarified that no public funds were used during a week-long "working vacation" together with his family in Singapore.

Rama is now back at the City Hall Monday, November 28, 2022, and during the flag-raising ceremony, the mayor said that "not a single centavo" from the City Government's coffers was used to pay for their Singapore travel.

In a report from the Public Information Office, the supposed vacation of Rama included official activities that are in line with his Singapore-like Cebu City vision.

"No funds from the City Government (was used) during our trip to Singapore... Not a single centavo from the City Government," Rama said in a mix of English and Cebuano.

The mayor added that he is willing to sacrifice his own money for the service of the people.

Rama first visited the Philippine Embassy in Singapore wherein he presented his vision for Cebu City and then met with officials from Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry to learn good practices and systems that can help the business sector. (IRT)
