THE local government of Barangay Tisa in Cebu City has decided to hold off the street dancing competition for this year's Siomai sa Tisa festival that has been suspended for two years due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Tisa Barangay Captain Reynato "Ringo" Pacaña said they have already lined up various activities for the celebration, except for the street dancing competition.

Pacaña cited the lack of funds as the reason why they decided not to hold the competition this year.

"Tungod ni kay ang atong kwarta ato mang gihinay-hinay og hapak sa ubang galastuhon human sa Covid," Pacaña said.

(This is because our money is slowly being used for other expenses after Covid).

The last Siomai festival was held on September 29, 2019 as one of the highlights of the barangay's fiesta in honor of their patron, St. Lorenzo Ruiz, before it was suspended in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.

The celebration kicked off with a novena for St. Lorenzo Ruiz that started on September 20, 2019.

For this year, the celebration will start on September 15 and end on the 25th. (BBT, TPT)
