THERE was no coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine spoilage in Cebu City.

This was assured by Cebu City Health Department (CHD) officer-in-charge Jeffrey Ibones after Cebu City experienced a power outage on Friday night, August 20, 2021.

Cebu City was one of the affected areas of the hours-long power interruption in the Visayas on Friday.

Ibones conducted an inspection on Saturday morning, checking the vaccine storage in malls and CHD office.

He said backup generators were immediately turned on during the power interruption.

"We have generator, the malls, too, have one, so vaccines were not affected," said Ibones in mixed Cebuano and English.

Ibones said only around 2,000 doses of various vaccine brands were left in the cold storage of the CHD, which include few doses of Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson&Johnson, and Sinovac. (JJL)
