Noblefranca stops Yacapin in 1st round

DANGEROUS striker Renan “Flash” Noblefranca showed how lethal his strikes were after a quick first round stoppage win over Ramil Yacapin in the opening round of their kickboxing match last Saturday night, Nov. 12, 2022, at the Zanorte Cultural Sports Complex in Dipolog City.

Noblefranca didn’t waste any time and immediately targeted Yacapin’s legs. He landed a solid roundhouse to the thigh that dropped Yacapin to the ground.

Yacapin beat the referee’s count but refused to continue giving Noblefranca the technical knockout win in the 1:07 of the opening round.

“His thigh had a huge swelling because of that kick and he had a hard time walking after the fight. If he decided to continue he would have been knocked out anyway,” Noblefranca’s coach Master Benigno “Ekin” Caniga told SunStar Cebu.

Noblefranca, who hasn’t fought kickboxing for over two years, improved to a combined kickboxing and Muay Thai record of 76-2, while Yacapin fell to 8-4.

Noblefranca will quickly return to action on Dec. 23 in Iloilo City and then in Camarines Sur in January.

Caniga’s target is to bring Noblefranca’s talent to the ONE Championship and compete in kickboxing.

On the other hand, Arnel Ylanan scored a huge win in the same show after beating former URCC Visayas pinweight champion Victor Torre by a unanimous decision.

Ylanan ended a two-fight slump and improved to 12-5, while Torre dropped to 12-6. (EKA)
