THE NorthPort Batang Pier walloped the hapless Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, 115-79, in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday, July 21, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

A 17-2 blast was all the Batang Pier needed to gain complete control of the game as they established a massive 39-20 lead and never looked back to gain its first win of the season after suffering a terrible 63-85 loss to Meralco in their first outing.

The Batang Pier opened the second frame with a 17-2 blitz for a commanding 39-20 lead, and the game would never be in question as they bounced back from the ugly 63-85 loss to Meralco on opening day.

Robert Bolick, in just his second game back from an ACL injury, flirted with a triple-double as he had 20 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds. However, it was rookie big man Troy Rike that truly raised eyebrows with his fine play as he recorded 20 points, highlighted by six makes from beyond the arc. He also made four straight triples in the fourth quarter that pushed their lead to 32.

Kevin Ferrer finished with 20 ehile Sidney Onwubere and rookie forward Jamie Malonzo had 15 markers each. (JNP)
