JENELYN Olsim had an impressive ONE Championship debut following a huge submission upset of No. 5 rated strawweight Maira Mazar in ONE: “Fists of Fury III” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.

The 24-year-old Olsim, who fights out of Team Lakay in Baguio City, caught Mazar with a guillotine choke and forced her to tap out in the 41-second mark of the third round.

Olsim got hold of Mazar’s neck, locked her up and attacked the head with knees. Mazar somehow broke free and traded heavy punches with Olsim. But Olsim knocked Mazar with a straight right in the exchange.

In the second round, Olsim dropped Mazar with a left front kick. She attempted a toe hold but failed to finish Mazar with the submission attempt. The two strikers continued to exchange punches and kicks. Mazar finished the round strong with a takedown.

Mazar got hold of Olsim’s right leg in single leg takedown attempt on the cage. Olsim, however, positioned her arms around Mazar’s neck and submitted her with a guillotine choke as the Brazilian took her down.

Olsim, who went 1-1 in the ONE Warrior Series and has not fought for more than a year, improved to 4-2, while Mazar dropped to 7-4.

Fil-Indonesian Aziz Calim (5-5) dropped his second fight in a row after suffering a first-round submission defeat in the hands of Indian Roshan Mainam (6-2) in the undercard.

Mainam didn’t waste any time and took the fight to the ground with a hip throw. Mainam transitioned to Calim’s back and sank in a rear-naked choke submission in 2:45 mark.

In the main event, Regian Eersel successfully defended his ONE kickboxing lightweight belt with a unanimous decision over challenger Mustapha Haida. (EKA)
