Eumir Marcial set his 2020 Tokyo Olympics campaign on the right track on Thursday, July 29.

The fancied Filipino boxer made a triumphant debut after dispatching Younes Nemouchi of Algeria via stoppage in the Round of 16 of the men's middleweight division at the Kokugikan Arena.

Marcial made quick work of Nemouchi as he wrapped up the bout in the opening round, where he landed heavy blows and scored a knockdown on his Algerian foe.

The referee stepped in to stop the fight with 19 seconds left in the first round due to a bloody cut above Nemouchi's right eye.

Marcial will now proceed to the quarterfinals where a win over Arman Darchinyan of Armenia on Sunday, August 1, would assure him of at least a bronze medal.
