Swimmer Remedy Rule bowed out of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after missing the cut in the semifinal round of the women's 200-meter butterfly at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre on Wednesday, July 28.  

The Filipina finished 15th overall out of 16 competitors with a time of 2:18.89, falling way short of the Top 8 ranking needed to make it to the medal round.  

Zhang Yufei of China led the semifinal heats after clocking in at 2:04.89. 

Rule also crashed out of contention in the 100m butterfly event where she finished 25th in a field of 33 during the preliminaries with a time of 59.68 days earlier.
