Police officers from Talisay City and San Fernando arrested Alexander Rematado in Barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City at 11 p.m. based on an arrest warrant issued against him over a 2017 murder case in Tagbilaran City in Bohol.

Rematado was positively identified as one of two men who robbed and slit the tongue of taxi driver Andres Alfanta on Holy Tuesday, April 12.

Lt. Col. Randy Caballes, chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said his operatives assisted in Rematado's arrest after Alfanta's family sought their help.

Caballes said Alfanta personally identified Rematado after a picture of the suspect was shown to him while he was still recovering at the Cebu South Medical Center (formerly Talisay District Hospital).

Caballes said that aside from his murder case in Bohol, Rematado is also facing a robbery charge in Carcar City which was filed on 2013.

Local police are still searching for Rematado's cohort. (BBT, JKV)
