One-day Sacleo nets over P110 million shabu in Central Visayas

MORE than P100 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated during the one-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operation (Sacleo) conducted by the police across the Central Visayas.

Data from the Police Regional Office (PRO 7) showed that the Sacleo conducted by 165 different police stations from the provinces of Cebu, Negros Oriental, Bohol and Siquijor in Central Visayas that started from 12:01 a.m. on July 9 until 12:01 a.m. of July 10, at least 199 drug personalities were arrested and a total of P111.4 million worth of alleged shabu were seized.

The one-day Sacleo has also led to the arrest of 266 persons for illegal gambling and the confiscation of 204 gambling paraphernalia and P20,812 cash believed to be bet money.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Mary Crystal Peralta, spokesperson for Brigadier General Roque Eduardo Vega, director of PRO 7, majority of the drugs were netted in Cebu on Saturday, July 9, including the 15 kilos of alleged shabu valued at P102 million from former overseas Filipino worker Grace Juntilla, 31, in Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, and the P860,000 worth of alleged shabu from five drug suspects in separate drug raids in Talisay City and Cebu City.

The suspects were identified as Maria Donjie Baya, 31, and Cesar Taac-Taac, 31, of Barangay Lawaan 3, Talisay City, and Leo Amanci, Ariel Contado, and Janine May Torres, both of legal age, from Barangay Sambag 2, Cebu City. (AYB, GDC, TPT)
