Operation Greyhound: Hundreds of contraband seized in Cebu City, provincial jails
HUNDREDS of personal items, including bladed weapons, were seized from the inmates during the "Operation Greyhound" conducted by the Bureau of Jail Management Penology (BJMP), Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA 7) at the Cebu City Jail and Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City on Tuesday morning, July 19, 2022.
These items included cellular phones, knives, bolos, bluetooth speakers, water containers, wood sticks, screw drivers, and playing cards, among others.
Jail Superintendent Jose Rusylvi Abueva, Cebu City jail warden, said he is hoping that the city council would hasten the passage of a "no-fly zone" ordinance prohibiting drone operation within the perimeters of the two jail facilities and providing penalties for those violators.
Abueva said contraband can be dropped into the prison through drones. (AYB, BBT, TPT)
