Oppo officially launches the Find X3 Pro, on 11 March 2021. As expected with the flagship phones of 2021, the Find X3 Pro enters with a powerhouse chipset, extraordinary design and an exciting camera set with a novel trick - microscope. We attended their launch in Singapore and had a brief encounter with the Find X3 Pro, and here's what we think.

The Find X3 Pro immediately surprises with its ultra-smooth and sleek design, which is made from a single piece of glass. There is a camera bump for sure, but it curves so smoothly that it is a joy to hold and easily pocketable - no snags.

What's striking as well is how the two colour options are completely different. The Blue option has an anti-glare, matte finish that is satiny smooth, contrasted by a glossy surface to the camera array. The Gloss Black option is mirror-like and smooth throughout. My only critique is that the blue colour is somewhat muted, while the gloss black is a smudge magnet. Consumers like me prefer a matte finish, and there will be some who will love the ultra-shiny one.

The large 6.7-inch OLED display supports QHD+ (3216 x 1440) packing pixels at 525PPI and is super bright at 1300 nits. Pushing for a fluid experience while balancing power efficiency, the Find X3 Pro also supports a 5 to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. This allows the screen to shift the refresh rate, depending on what is happening on-screen - whether users are gaming or scrolling through social feeds or browsing their favourite web content.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 runs the Find X3 Pro, pushing CPU speeds of up to 2.84GHz. Keeping the phone thin while cooling its brain is an ultra-efficient vapour chamber cooling system. 12GB Memory and 256GB Storage is also packed in with the smartphone. And similar to many flagship smartphones today, the Find X3 Pro also supports 5G.

A 4500mAh battery powers this phone that promises a full day of use before needing a charge. Leveraging on Oppo's SuperVOOC 2.0 flash charging, the Find X3 Pro can go from 0 to 40% in just 10 minutes. No need to purchase a separate charger as it is included in the box.

Out of the box, the Oppo Find X3 Pro runs on its Android 11 overlay, the ColorOS 11.2. It's said to be highly customizable but maintains full access to Google services, including the Google Play Store.

Oppo wants to attract photography enthusiasts through its interesting selection of high-quality cameras - A wide, ultrawide, telephoto and a microlens. Both the wide and ultra-wide feature an IMX776 50MP sensor, co-engineered with Sony. It's able to capture billion-colour images and videos. The 13MP telephoto lens supports up to 5x hybrid zoom and 20x digital zoom.

Oppo has made interesting choices with these cameras, but the unique one would be the 3MP microlens, which supports up to 60x magnification. It has its own tiny ring light for that level of magnification. Having only limited time with the camera, I've only tried magnifying the table cloth, and sure enough, I could see individual, super tiny strands of fabric.

In the same event, Oppo also launches the Enco X, the brand's first premium wireless active noise-cancelling earphones. THe Enco X was made in collaboration with Dynaudio. It supports the LHDC codec for immersive sound quality.

While the encounter with the Oppo Find X3 Pro was brief, it was memorable. There's a lot to like - the smooth and curvy design, the solid screen, powerful performance and an interesting camera array.
