Ormoc comes alive in fourth to crush Lapu-Lapu in PSL 21-Under

The OCCCI Ormoc Sheermasters found their second wind in the fourth to rout the Lapu-Lapu City Pantum, 89-63, in the Pilipinas Super League 21-Under VisMin Leg on Thursday night at the Lawaan 1 gym in Talisay City.

Lapu-Lapu City was within striking distance, down by just 11, 53-64, with a little under nine minutes remaining in the game. However, Ormoc flipped a switch and created a lot of damage on both ends of the floor, going on a 21-0 run to go up by 32, 85-53, with less than five minutes left in the ballgame.

Jim Taala was Ormoc’s high-point man as he had 24 points and nine rebounds. Charles Libatog added 12 markers and five boards. Four others scored between nine and eight points, underscoring the Sheermasters’ depth.

Ormoc’s win evened their record up at 2-2.

Jhoernel Tangkay and Jeco Bancale had 16 points apiece for Lapu-Lapu City, which dropped to 1-3.
