MORE than 500 individuals throughout Central Visayas were arrested during the One Time, Big Time (OTBT) operation on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

Based on the data released by the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO 7), the police had served warrants to a total of 3,294 individuals but only 526 were arrested.

Forty-five of those arrested belonged to the most wanted persons list in the regional level, eight in the provincial level and 36 in municipal level.

Police Brigadier General Roque Eduardo Vega, head of the PRO 7, said they are now strengthening their campaign against wanted personalities.

"Consistent operations on the anti-criminality campaign in the region along with the peace and order program thrust of the C, PNP, the Malasakit + Kaayusan + Kapayapaan = Tungo sa Kaunlaran (M+K+K=K), and the support of the community and the local government units, have helped decrease the crime volume in Central Visayas," Vega said.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, deputy city director for operation of the Cebu City Police Office, said they were only able to arrest 60 persons out of the 874 arrest warrants that they served during the OTBT.

Rafter said they could not anymore trace the other subjects of the warrants as they have already transferred to another place, while others have already served their jail sentence.

During the operation, the police used an updated electronic warrants or e-warrants transmitted to them by the courts to apprehend people facing court cases.

The police are targeting to arrest more than 700 individuals in their next operations. (AYB, TPT)
