Over P62-M shabu seized in Quezon City

AUTHORITIES seized on Wednesday, March 11, over P62 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) in drug busts in separate areas in Quezon City.

At around 4:20 p.m. in Barangay West Triangle in Quezon City, anti-narcotics operatives arrested Mark Anthony Gregorio Carlos, a resident of San Miguel, Bulacan.

Carlos initially yielded P1 million worth of shabu which he sold to a poseur buyer.

During the search, police recovered from him around nine kilograms of illegal drugs packed in a gold metallic pouch labeled with Chinese characters.

Police said the estimated value of the illegal substance is P61.2 million.

In a separate drug bust in Baesa, Quezon City, police arrested Raquel Hernandez, 26, Nerissa De Leon, 35, and a 17-year old suspect.

Seized from the suspects were around 150 kilograms of shabu, packed in heat-sealed plastic bags, worth P1.20 million.

Meanwhile, police recovered over P4 million worth of marijuana in Diliman and Barangay South Triangle, both in Quezon City.

Authorities identified the arrested suspects in Diliman as Daryl Jasper Villaflor, 28], and Jonathan Lachica, 22. One their alleged cohorts identified as John Ezekiel, 28, eluded arrest.

They yielded P3.8 million worth of marijuana.

In South Triangle, arrested suspect was identified as Angelo Castillo, 25. Seized from him were P120,000 worth of marijuana leaves.

The arrested suspects and recovered pieces of evidence will be subjected to technical examination at the PNP Crime Laboratory Office.

Charges for violation of Section 5 and 11 of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) are being prepared for filing in court against the suspect.

National Capital Region Police Office Director Debold Sinas lauded the police personnel responsible for the apprehension of the suspects and confiscation of the illegal drugs. (SunStar Philippines)
