MANILA, Philippines – Cash reward for the capture of gun-for-hire boss Ricardo Peralta has been raised from P5M to P10M.
Peralta is the “boss” of a gun-for-hire syndicate responsible for several cases of kidnapping and murder.
Reports said the group is being tapped by politicians to be their private armies in areas in Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Tarlac, Cagayan, Metro Manila and La Union.
Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) president, Boy Evangelista said the reward money was increased to encourage the immediate capture of Peralta.
“We strongly believe na very effective especially kung ang reward money is substantial, reaching to P10-million. It is a strong instrument o weapon to capture ang mga wanted persons,” said Evangelista.
Authorities were able to arrest some members of the group but Peralta remains at large.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Oscar Albayalde on Monday (November 12) said some local executives are reported tapping the services of the syndicate to harm or kill their political rivals.
According to PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) Director Glenn Dumlao agreed that the reward money will be of big help to arrest the notorious gun-for-hire leader. He added that the police is now monitoring the activities of three politicians allegedly linked to the group.
“Ang pinakamaganda rito ay ang eyes ng community. Iyong tipster. Iyong 10-million. Hindi naman ang governor ang magti-tip sa amin kundi ang bata niya. Iyong caretaker niya sa farm. Iyong tagaluto. Iyong tatawag sa amin na “Nandito (siya)!” said Dumlao.
Gapan, Nueva Ecija Mayor Emmanuel Pascual expressed agreement on the reward because two of his family members were killed by the syndicate in 2006.
“Napakahalaga nito sa amin. Hindi na para sa aming mga biktima (nila) tapos na iyon. An gamin ay para sa mga future victims nila. Para sa amin sa VACC, walang karapatang maglakad ng Malaya sa kalsada ang mga criminal na iyan na kasalamuha nating mga law-abiding citizens,” he said.
To anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Ricardo Peralta, you may call the PNP-AKG hotline numbers 0927-323-4894 or 723-04-01 local 4287. – Marje Pelayo (with reports from Lea Ylagan)
