P2B worth of infra projects for Cebu City proposed

THE Cebu City Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW) has proposed almost P2 billion worth of infrastructure projects that can help mitigate the city's flooding and landslide problem.

In its submitted budget for 2023 for construction services, the department will be spending P600 million for the construction of retention ponds at frequently flooded areas and another P600 million for drainage projects.

The DEPW has also allocated P600 million for infrastructure that aim to “slope protection on landslide prone areas.”

Another P196 million is also being set aside for construction of dams in the city's upland area.

Aside from this, the department has also allocated another P57 million for the purchase of heavy equipment that will be used for dredging or rivers and creeks. (IRT)
