A SUSPECTED pusher yielded P3.4 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine) after he was caught in a drug bust in Brgy. Bolinawan, Carcar City, Cebu at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2020.
Jericho Infantado, 45, was arrested by the operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 and Police Regional Office 7-Regional Intelligence Division.
Seized from Infantado was 500 grams of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.
PDEA 7 public information officer Leia Albiar-Alcantara said they are still investigating where Infantado sourced his supply of illegal drugs.
However, Alcantara said the PDEA 7 agent who led the operation believed that the illegal drugs were old stocks.
Infantado could have had a hard time disposing of his supplies when Cebu Province was on enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), which was implemented to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Alcantara said Infantado may have been trying to get rid of his old stocks now that Cebu Province is under general community quarantine (GCQ), which allows public movement and transport on a limited basis.
Cebu Province transitioned from ECQ to GCQ past midnight on May 20.
Alcantara said the PDEA 7 has not monitored any drug laboratory in Cebu and other provinces in Central Visayas. However, the agency is always on the lookout, she said.
The suspect will be facing complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Selling illegal drugs is a non-bailable offense. (KAL)
