P50,000 cash incentive, recognition await Lapu police personnel

PLAQUE of recognition and P50,000 cash incentive await personnel of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) who conducted a drug bust last June 13 that led to the confiscation of four kilos of shabu worth P27.2 million.

Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan said Tuesday, June 21, that the recognition and incentive, recommended by the City of Lapu-lapu Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (Closap), will greatly boost the morale of the law enforcers in the fight against crime and illegal drugs.

"The Cadac recommend that the police officers who participated in the police operation against illegal drug activities within the City of Lapu-Lapu be given appropriate awards," said Garry Lao, co-chairman of Cadac.

Personnel from the Drug Enforcement Unit and City Intelligence Unit of the LLCPO conducted the drug bust last June 13 in Barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City, resulting in the arrest of Leonora Quistadio, 43, a resident of Barangay Quezon, Tagbina town in Surigao del Sur.

Chan said he will also give P50,000 to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Lapu-Lapu for their effort for ensure that the city will have its drug-cleared barangays and maintain a drug-free Barangay Caohagan.

Lapu-Lapu City has five drug-cleared barangays, namely, Tungasan, Tingo, Baring, Caw-oy and Subabasbas.

Meanwhile, Chan awarded a plaque of recognition to members of Cadac, which include the Closap-Office of the Mayor, City Health Department, parole and probation, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, Department of Education, city social welfare and development, city information office, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation, Regional Trial Court-Lapu-Lapu, Office of the City Prosecutor, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Bidlisiw foundation and the Association of barangay Council.

Chan said the members were recognized for their services in performance of duties and responsibilities in planning and implementing the anti-illegal drug programs, projects and activities for 2019-2022. (PR)
