TWO men were arrested in an anti-drug operation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) that yielded an estimated 77.5 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, worth around P534,750,000, and drug paraphernalia.

In a statement, the PDEA said 32-year-old businessman Mike Bautista Abac and 37-year-old cook Edison Bolos de Guzman, both residents of Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati City, were caught in a buy-bust operation conducted at around 6 p.m. on Dec. 27, 2021, on the 35th floor of a condominium complex in Mandaluyong City.

Agents found the shabu packed in clear plastic bags. They said some were also concealed in red packaging labeled as Chinese tea.

The PDEA conducted the buy-bust with the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, PNP Drug Enforcement Group, Intelligence Service-Armed Forces of the Philippines and Joint Counterintelligence Task Force Noah.

Abac and De Guzman will face drug trafficking charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PR)
