MEMBERS of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Talamban Police Station arrested three men during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Villa Leyson, Barangay Bacayan, Cebu City on Tuesday afternoon, September 20, 2022.

They also seized shabu worth P7 million, based on the standard drug price, from Rulan Mahusay Mercado, 29; Ryan Arceo Zamora, 38; and Reynaldo Avila Ardina, 36, who all reside in the subdivision.

Major Alvin Llamedo, chief of the Talamban Police Station, said they have been hot on the suspects’ heels for almost two months.

But since the suspects kept changing addresses, it was hard to pin them down, said Llamedo, who led the operation.

Police learned that Mercado and Zamora’s “boss” is a certain Eugene who is currently serving time at the Abuyog Penal Colony in Leyte.

Mercado told police that illegal drugs were delivered to him only twice.

The first time, he said, the shabu weighed 150 grams.

He said he did not know the second delivery would contain more than a kilo of shabu otherwise he would not have accepted it.

Mercado, Zamora and Ardina will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (BBT/PJB)
