Malacañang has denied the claims of Kapa Community Ministry founder Joel Apolinario that President Rodrigo Duterte allowed them to continue operations.
On Thursday (June 13) around 50,000 members of the Kapa Community Ministry gathered at the Acharon Sports Complex. They are calling out to the president to lift the closure order against Kapa Community Ministry.
During the speech of Apolinario, the members were elated upon hearing that President Duterte allegedly allowed them to continue their operations.
“Pasalamatan ko lang ang kanyang pagmamahal sa inyo dahil ayaw niya na tayong lahat maghirap at bumalik sa kahirapan kung ano naranasan natin sa loob ng tatlong taon. Ang gusto niya na ipagpatuloy ito. I love KAPA, mabuhay ang ating Presidente, mabuhay si Inday Sara, (I am thankful for his love for all of you because he does not want us to suffer and go back o poverty like we experienced three years ago. He wants us to continue this. Long live our president, long live Inday Sara)” he said.
However, this was denied by Malacañang. In a Viber message, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the president did not say such things.
Duterte already ordered the closure of Kapa Community Ministry as well as the arrest of the officials of the organization.
He also advised the public not to join in any of investment scheme operations.—(with reports from Janice Ingente)
