Palompon, Leyte native shot dead in Carcar City

A SEAMAN was killed after he was shot by two unidentified men in Sitio Nangkaan, Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City, Cebu on Saturday night, Nov. 5, 2022.

The victim was identified as 45-year-old Brian Pedrano, a native of Palompon, Leyte.

He suffered a gunshot wound in the back and in the nape of the neck.

Three empty shells from a .45 pistol were recovered from the crime scene.

Lt. Col. Ardioleto Cabagnot, Carcar City Police Station chief, said the gunmen were riding a motorcycle.

He said they found a fastcraft ticket to Ormoc City in the victim’s possession, which enabled them to contact one of his relatives who confirmed his identity.

However, Cabagnot said Pedrano’s relatives had no idea what he was doing in Carcar City.

Based on their initial investigation, three teens witnessed the shooting.

They told police the victim was talking to a man next to a parked motorcycle with its headlights on. Another man holding a flashlight was standing across the road.

They said the victim left and walked several meters when they suddenly heard several loud bangs.

Cabagnot said the motive for the murder was not robbery even though witnesses saw one of the men frisk Pedrano’s fallen body.

He said it was possible the assailant was looking for something. It was also possible that the victim and his killers knew each other, he added.

He said they were waiting for Pedrano’s sibling to arrive in Carcar City.

Cabagnot said they will look at all the angles in their investigation. (GPL / PJB)
