CREATIVITY can help businesses stay afloat during this pandemic.
Kenneth Cobonpue, Cebu Design Week ways and means committee chairman, said the creative community has been at the forefront of the country’s recovery efforts, especially in Cebu.
“The creative centers, by continuing and rising again, ushers economic activity. Everybody during the lockdown has become creative in trying to cope and discovering skills they haven’t thought they have. Everybody’s creative in their own way because there’s no other way,” Cobonpue said.
He noted that people looked for other ways to earn a living during these difficult times.
“In the renewed economy, everybody will find more and more ways of getting back on their feet,” he said.
Cobonpue, however, noted that the challenge is in making every aspect of the creative community act together.
It is for this reason that the sector is going full blast in the upcoming Cebu Design Week which will run from Oct. 26 to Oct. 28, 2020.
The Cebu Design Week is a platform that will bring together the creative industries in Cebu and the Visayas to a week of collaboration, celebration, creation, entrepreneurship and education.
Activities lined up for the week feature various speakers who will touch various aspects of the creative community like media, heritage, arts and functional creations.
“The good thing about Cebu Design Week is that it’s a forum for everyone to come together and try to sync in with what everybody’s doing,” he said.
Cobonpue, who is also the chairman of the Regional Development Council 7, said the creative community remains vital in government projects.
He cited the creative sector’s contribution in making the Mactan-Cebu International Airport one of the world’s best airports and the design and function of the upcoming Bus Rapid Transit project.
“We have a very big role to play,” he said. (JOB)
