Patient lands in jail after hospital treatment

A FORMER security guard who was rushed to a hospital for a head injury ended up in jail after he was discharged for treatment, as two small packs of shabu were seized from his possession.

Police Major Nolan Tagsip, chief of the Abellana Police Station 2, said they received a call from Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) around 4 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2022, about the incident, prompting them to respond.

They then found Nilo Panilagao, 26, a resident of Barangay Babag 1, Cebu City, whom police said was caught by the hospital’s security guard possessing illegal drugs after the packs of shabu fell from his pocket.

Investigation revealed that the security guard of VSMMC was roving inside the hospital when he saw Panilagao with the two packs of shabu. The guard then contacted the police, resulting in the patient’s arrest.

Tagsip said Panilagao was brought to the hospital after he sustained a head injury from a fight with another person in Barangay Panagdait, Cebu City.

Panilagao reportedly went to a disco house when he accidentally hit a drunken person. While he was about to leave the area, the man struck him with a pipe.

Tagsip said the Abellana Police Station will find out where Panilagao got the shabu packs from, adding that a case for violation of Section 11, Article 2 of Republic Act 9165 will be filed against him. (BBT/LMY)
