Paul Desiderio injures knee, torn ACL feared

Blackwater Bossing wingman Paul Desiderio has suffered a knee injury with the initial diagnosis being a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

In a video posted by Desiderio’s sister on social media, the injury happened during Blackwater’s tune-up game against Talk N Text at the Moro Lorenzo Gym inside the Ateneo de Manila University campus. Desiderio was seen driving down the lane when his left foot slipped and his knee buckled, leaving the Cebuano crumpled on the floor.

In a report on Spin.ph, Blackwater head coach Ariel Vanguardia said they will know the extent of the injury on Tuesday. ACL injuries typically have a recovery time of six to nine months after surgery.

The development is a huge blow to the career of Desiderio, who is raring to establish himself in the PBA after a stellar career in the UAAP where he led the University of the Philippines back to the finals back in 2018.

Desiderio was also pegged to have a role in Blackwater’s rotation alongside fellow Cesafi product Rey Anthony Suerte as the Bossing try to ascend up the ladder in the PBA.
