AFTER a successful staging of the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup, the PBA 3x3 competition is set to tip off later this month with 13 teams vying for supremacy.

There will be 10 member teams competing with four sporting a different brand from their mother company.

Magnolia will be known as the Purefoods Tender Juicy Titans while NLEX will carry the name of the Cavitex Road Warriors. Rain or Shine, meanwhile, will be known as the Sista Super Sealers while Phoenix will promote its mobile app called Limitless.

The other member teams are TNT, Ginebra, Meralco, NorthPort, San Miguel and Terrafirma. Joining the field are guest teams Pioneer Pro Tibay, Platinum Karaoke, and the Zamboanga Valientes MLV.

One 3x3 season will be composed of three conferences with each conference spanning six two-day legs as well as a grand final.

“Since the PBA is the leader of basketball in the Philippines, it’s about time we introduced a new format,” PBA 3x3 chairman Dickie Bachmann said during his appearance on “The Game.”

“Each leg has prize money and the grand finals will also have prize money. The top 10 teams after the first six legs will advance to the grand finals.” (JNP)
