The PBA board of governors has given the green light to stage another special draft aimed at bolstering the training pool of the country’s national basketball team — the Gilas Pilipinas.
This came to be after the league’s board of governors convened on Thursday to discuss several matters, paramount of which is the special Gilas draft, which would take place on March 14.
The first special draft saw Ateneo big man Isaac Go emerge as the first pick followed by former University of the Visayas standout Rey Anthony Suerte. Also selected were brothers Mike and Matt Nieto and Allyn Bulanadi. Players picked in the special Gilas draft would be loaned to the national team but their mother teams would retain their rights.
Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas president Al Panlilio mentioned that they would now assess the pool composed of 97 professional aspirants to see which ones they would like to include into the national training pool. (JNP)
