THE Project Balik Buhay (PBB) will assist the national government’s national vaccination program through a public-private vaccination initiative.
The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas, Inter-Agency Task Force-Visayas and the Department of Health (DOH) have asked the PBB to assist the government in the vaccination rollout.
The PBB private sector partnership will work to set up DOH-accredited but private sector-funded and -managed vaccination centers that will help augment the capacity of the government vaccination centers.
Other than the vaccines, the related medical consumables and medications, and the DOH deployed healthcare workers who will be assigned to these PBB private sector vaccination centers, all operating expenses incurred in these PBB private sector vaccination centers will be shouldered and donated by the private sector. There will be no costs incurred by the government or the Cebuanos availing themselves of the services.
Lawyer Karen Gaviola Climaco, director for legal and corporate services at LH Ventures, said the role of the PBB is simply to assist and augment the capacity of the government in rolling its vaccination program.
“We are not the chief implementers in this project. We are merely assisting the national government to roll out its project to the public and to as much as possible achieve the goal of vaccinating as many Filipinos as we can over the next coming months,” said Climaco, who also works for the PBB, during the general membership meeting of the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA)-Cebu Chapter Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
“The goal is to achieve the safe and successful implementation of this National Vaccination Program to allow the local economy to recover at the soonest possible time, thereby helping to resume the sustainable livelihood of so many Filipinos whose economic situation has already been severely affected by this pandemic,” the PBB said.
