Police prohibit PDA as anti-Covid measure

THE police will now admonish couples when they are in a public display of affection (PDA).

This was announced last week by the Philippine National Police spokesperson Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana in the face of the increasing number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the country.

On March 9, 2021, the Philippines recorded 600,428 total Covid-19 cases.

Usana said that PDA prohibitions include kissing, holding hands, and embracing in public.

The police will admonish not only the couple, but also their families and friends.

Usana said the police will only admonish, not arrest those publicly displaying their affection.

He also said that this prohibition is aligned with the health protocols mandated by the government, which include social distancing. (REV/With NRC)
