Petalcorin gets another world title shot

FORMER interim World Boxing Association (WBA) light flyweight king Randy Petalcorin gets his shot at another world championship after stepping in as a replacement opponent for World Boxing Council (WBC) light flyweight champion Ken Shiro on Dec. 23, 2019 at the Arena Yokohama in Yokohama, Japan.

The 27-year-old Petalcorin steps in as a replacement for International Boxing Federation (IBF) light flyweight titleholder Felix Alvarado, who backed out of his unification fight with Shiro after suffering a lung illness.

Shiro is 16-0 with nine knockouts, while Petalcorin is 31-3-1 with 23 knockouts. (EKA)
