THE Petro Gazz Angels were quick to reload as they signed former Sta. Lucia stalwarts Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, MJ Phillips and Bang Pineda to reinforce their squad for the upcoming Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season that is tentatively set to kick off on Feb. 16.

Petro Gazz’s move comes a few days after the Lady Realtors announced they were taking a leave of absence from the country’s professional volleyball league due to the uncertainty brought about by the recent surge of Covid-19 cases in the country.

“Established names in the industry, Aiza Maizo, Mj Phillips and Bang Pineda are all Gazzed up to give us exciting games ahead!! Who’s ready?!” read the Facebook post of Petro Gazz.

The development brings Phillips, Pontillas and Pineda back together with Djanel Cheng and Jonah Sabete, who returned to Petro Gazz. This will be Phillips’ very first transfer, having played for Sta. Lucia for the last four years. For Pontillas, this will be her third move in the last seven years.

Petro Gazz now boasts of a formidable rotation with current aces Myla Pablo and Cebuana Grethcel Soltones already manning the wing spiker position. In all, Petro Gazz has recruited eight new players as they try to improve on their third-place finish in the Open Conference last year.
