MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Army’s shooting team bagged a total of 22 medals from the ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM) 2019, held in Indonesia from Nov. 14 to 27.
The 34-member shooting team, headed by Col. Roberto Huet, took home six gold, seven silver, and seven bronze medals during various team events; while gold and silver medals were clinched in individual events.
The 22 medals were presented to the Philippine Army shooting team at the AARM closing ceremony held on Nov. 20.
“In behalf of the Philippine Army, I commend the whole shooting team for your excellent performance during the AARM. The command will continue to support your efforts as it brings us closer to our goal of being a world-class Army by 2028,” Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Macairog Alberto said in a statement.
The AARM is an annual shooting competition participated by 10 different Southeast Asian nations, namely: the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Singapore, Myanmar, Thailand, Brunei Darrusalam and Malaysia.
This year’s competition is hosted by the Indonesian Armed Forces.
The AARM 2020 will be hosted by the Royal Brunei Land Forces, according to the Philippine Army.
