A 44-YEAR-OLD pharmacy cashier was arrested for embezzling money from her employer in Barangay Poblacion 2, Tuburan, Cebu Tuesday afternoon, June 7, 2022.

Staff Sergeant Mark Anthony Zamora, investigating officer of Tuburan Municipal Police Station, identified the suspect as Florence Cuizon Estoy, a native of Barangay Poblacion 2, Tuburan, Cebu.

Zamora told SunStar Cebu that in late June of 2021, they were called to the Generics Pharmacy in Barangay Poblacion 3, Tuburan, Cebu in reference to the burglary in the pharmacy that Estoy claimed.

The owner of the pharmacy confirmed that she lost more or less P600,000 during their inventory last year.

Zamora said that they later found out during their investigation that it was Estoy who embezzled the money, as she did not remit the exact earnings generated by the pharmacy.

Zamora spoke with the pharmacy owner who said that Estoy was just fired for stealing.

During an interrogation, Estoy admitted that she pocketed the money several times.

Judge Judilyn Hugo Tapia of Toledo City Regional Trial Court issued a warrant for Estoy’s arrest on June 6, 2022. A P40,000 bail has been recommended for her temporary liberty.

The arrest happened around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, and it was conducted by the Tabuelan Municipal Station (MPS) and Tuburan MPS.

Estoy was placed under the custody of Tuburan police. She will face charges for qualified theft. (GDC)
