PMMA cadet found dead in academy restroom

A cadet from the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) in San Narciso, Zambales was found dead inside the academy's restroom on Tuesday (July 6), authorities confirmed.

According to a statement by PMMA, Fourth Class Jonash Bondoc was found unconscious in the Alpha Company Barracks' restroom at 6:30 a.m. and was later pronounced dead at the San Marcelino District Hospital.

While the cause of the cadet's death was not immediately revealed, PMMA stated that the commandant of cadets, battalion officer, and company officer have all submitted "courtesy resignations" to allow for an impartial and prompt inquiry of the incident.

“An investigation by the PNP San Narciso is already ongoing, and the PMMA administration is cooperating and will fully cooperate with the officers of the law to find out the truth about the untimely demise of 4CL Bondoc,” PMMA said.
