“Kung ako ang masusunod, gusto ko umulan ng butterflies.”
(If it were up to me, I’d want it to rain butterflies.)
This was what 90s pop culture icon wrote on an Instagram post where she shared a news bulletin about her namesake storm, Jolina, the low pressure area that developed into a severe tropical storm on Monday (September 6). The TV host and actress also wished for everyone’s safety.
Apart from being a teen star and household name, Jolina also influenced an entire generation and popularized the iconic “butterfly clips” as the quint-essential Pinoy pop superstar of the 90s.
Fellow celebrities and fans of the host shared their thoughts in the comments section of her post
“Sana cute din ung ulan! Hahahaha,” said Vice Ganda.
“Aw aw aw please be good to us momshiejols,” wrote Melai Cantiveros, her co-host in the ABS-CBN lifestyle morning talk show “Magandang Buhay.”
“Omgeee sana mahinahon lang yan tulad mo!,” Karla Estrada commented, another “Magandang Buhay” co-host.
Unfortunately, Typhoon Jolina has slammed parts of Luzon and Visayas since the actress' post. Over 10,000 people in Bicol have fled their homes for safer grounds. According to Eastern Samar’s province’s health office report on Tuesday , at least nine people were injured due to the storm, while one is still missing.
In the latest weather update, Severe Tropical Storm Jolina made its eighth landfall in San Juan, Batangas at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
