MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Monday (July 13) a total of 56,259 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country.
A total of 2,124 positive cases were added based on the total tests done by 67 out of 82 current operational labs, bringing the total number of active cases to 38,679.
Meanwhile, the DOH also announced 2,009 new recoveries bringing the total number to 16,046.
However, the agency also reported 162 new deaths.
The DOH on Monday started its new format of reporting wherein it highlighted the active cases and removed distinction of fresh and late cases.
The agency failed to publish a report on Sunday (July 12) to work on the new format of reporting.
According to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, the rise in the number of deaths and recoveries are due to the reconciliation of records between the DOH and the local government units.
