The Philippines has long had a reputation for its natural beauty and gorgeous white sand beaches, which draw flocks of tourists to shores all around the archipelago.

It's once again cemented its reputation as a top beach and diving destination with its latest accolades from the World Travel Awards.

The country was hailed as Asia's Leading Beach Destination and Asia's Leading Dive Destination in the 29th World Travel Awards, which honored tourism attractions within Asia and Oceania at a red carpet ceremony on September 7 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

This is the sixth time the Philippines has been recognized as Asia's Leading Beach Destination, having received the same accolade in 2013, 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2021.

It's also the fourth time the country has been named Asia's Leading Dive Destination, an honor previously given in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

The Philippines was also the World's Leading Dive Destination in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The date for the World Travel Awards' announcement of global recognition is yet to be determined, but it usually happens sometime in November or December.

Here are the other Asian World Travel Awards that the Philippines snagged during the regional recognition on September 7.

  • Asia's Leading Dive Resort 2022 - Atmosphere Resorts & Spa

  • Asia's Leading Casino Resort 2022 - City of Dreams Manila

  • Asia's Leading Private Island Resort 2022 - Amanpulo

  • Asia's Leading Serviced Apartments 2022 - Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila

  • Asia's Leading Tourist Attraction 2022 - Intramuros

The Philippines, a tropical Southeast Asian nation of 7,641 islands, has long been popular among travellers for its beautiful island destinations such as Palawan, Cebu, Siargao and Boracay.

It was named among the "40 Most Beautiful Countries in the World" recently by travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler.
