Kiefer Ravena came through in the clutch as the Shiga Lakestars ended the long run of losses in the 2021-22 Japan B. League on Saturday (December 18).

Behind the heroics of the Filipino stalwart, the Lakestars pulled off a 76-72 escape act over the Yokohama B-Corsairs at the Ukaruchan Arena.

Locked in a 72-all deadlock inside the last minute of regulation, Ravena took matters into his own hands as he delivered the go-ahead basket via a clutch three-point play.

This allowed Shiga to put the pressure on Yokohama, which committed a fatal violation in the ensuing possession, setting up the finishing blow from Novar Gadson off a free throw conversion in the waning moments.

Coming off a B. League career-high, 28-point output last Wednesday, Ravena churned out a near double-double performance of 20 points, eight assists, two steals and a rebound for the Lakestars, who notched their first win since October 24 to rise to a record of 7-13.

Teppei Kashiwagura complimented the prolific guard with 12 points, five dimes and five boards. Naoto Moriyama also shouldered some of the offensive load with 11 points, while Gadson put up a 10-point, seven-rebound effort in the morale-boosting victory.

On the other hand, the B-Corsairs, who suffered their ninth consecutive loss, slid to a 6-14 slate.

Patrik Auda saw his productive line of 20 points, four boards, three dimes and two steals go for naught, as Yokohama also wasted the 17-point, 16-rebound production of Reginald Becton.

Ravena and the Lakestars will attempt to carry over momentum when they collide with the B-Corsairs anew on Sunday.
