Kiefer Ravena erupted for 28 points but his stellar performance was not enough to prevent the Shiga Lakestars from suffering their 11th consecutive loss on Wednesday (15 December).

The Lakestars could not avert another late collapse after crumbling to the Osaka Evessa 81-89 at the Ookini Arena Maishima, despite Ravena's best scoring effort in the 2021-22 Japan B. League season so far.

The Filipino stalwart was an offensive juggernaut in the first three quarters, where he churned out 25 of his total points output. However, Osaka managed to shut him down in the final quarter, as Shiga lost steam down the stretch and slid to a win-loss record of 6-13.

Clinging on a slim 74-72 edge in the final period with less than seven minutes remaining, the Evessa upped the ante and went on a decisive 13-4 run for a double-digit, 87-76 lead. Shiga, with Ravena clamped down, struggled to recover, allowing Osaka to come away victorious.

DJ Newbill shouldered the offensive load for the winning team with 26 points while dishing out six assists, four rebounds and three steals. Kyle Hunt also delivered an instrumental performance to the tune of 17 points and 11 boards.

On the other hand, Novar Gadson put up a near double-double of 18 points and eight rebounds for the Lakestars, who aim to put a halt to their skid when they collide with the Yokohama B-Corsairs over the weekend.
