Kiefer Ravena and the Shiga Lakestars stretched their winning run to four with a 23-point beatdown of Kyoto, 95-72, in the 2021-22 Japan B. League at the Hannaryz Arena on Sunday (17 October).

Ravena finished with six points, four rebounds and three assists in the rout, as the Lakestars rode on a strong surge in the third period to blow the match wide open.

The rousing win catapulted Shiga to a league-leading 5-1 record.

Sean O'Mara carried the load for the winning side with a monster double-double effort of 22 points and 15 rebounds laced with three assists, while Ovie Soko supplied an all-around line of 14 points, six boards, two dimes and two steals off the bench.

Reon Shibuta made his presence felt from deep with three triples on his way to 15 points for Shiga, which also received ample contributions from Teppei Kashiwagura and Novar Gadson who chimed in 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Coming off an 84-83 escape act, the Lakestars made sure to stay out of danger in the final frame by pulling away from Kyoto in the third salvo with a 24-3 spurt that overturned a 46-48 deficit into a commanding 70-51 lead.

Kyoto, on the other hand, saw Justin Harper's near double-double outing of 20 points and nine rebounds go down the drain.

Ravena and Shiga will now set their sights on the Bobby Ray Parks-led Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, who are riding the crest of a three-game winning surge, as both teams clash next weekend.
