Kiefer Ravena struggled to find his groove as the Shiga Lakestars suffered their fifth straight loss, a 62-89 defeat by the Shinshu Brave Warriors in the 2021-22 Japan B. League at the White Ring Arena on Saturday (13 November).

The Filipino basketballer went on a 2-of-7 shooting clip to finish with four points and three assists for the Lakestars, who slid to a 6-7 win-loss record.

Shiga had a lethargic start to the match, allowing the Brave Warriors to mount an 18-8 lead in the early goings. With Shinshu dictating the pace, the Lakestars found it hard to build momentum, let alone stage a comeback.

It was a well-rounded effort for Shinshu, which had four Brave Warriors scoring in double figures.

Reo Maeda showed the way with 16 points, while Tatsuya Nishiyama and Anthony McHenry supplemented 14 points each in the winning cause. Yuta Okada then chimed in 12 points of his own in the contest.

Matthew Aquino did not suit up again, but Shinshu still managed to clamp down the Lakestars and improve to a 8-5 slate.

On the other hand, Ovie Soko was the lone bright spot for Shiga, putting up 23 points, four rebounds and three blocks for Shiga, which also saw Sean O'Mara and Novar Gadson get clamped down to nine points each.

Ravena and the Lakestars will attempt to barge back into the win column when they take on Shinshu once more on Sunday.
