Kobe Paras and the Niigata Albirex BB fell under the brilliance of the reigning champions Chiba Jets and absorbed a 62-88 beatdown in the 2021-22 Japan B. League at the Funabashi Arena on Saturday (13 November)

The Filipino reinforcement could not get things going, producing two points, two rebounds and two assists in 16 minutes of action as the Albirex dropped to the bottom of the league with a dismal 2-11 win-loss record.

It was a wire-to-wire victory for the Jets, who zoomed to a 20-5 start before widening the gap to 40-23 at the half. Chiba never relinquished momentum from there on, en route to an improved 9-4 slate.

John Mooney orchestrated the 26-point drubbing of Niigata to the tune of 22 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

Also contributing to the onslaught was Shuta Hara, who poured out 13 points. Chris Smith chipped in 10 points, four assists and three rebounds, while Yuki Togashi supplied eight points and eight dimes.

For the Albirex, who suffered their 10th consecutive loss, Rosco Allen was the lone bright spot, churning out 20 points and five rebounds.

Paras and Niigata will aim to pull off an upset and end their losing skid when they collide with the Jets once more on Sunday.
